The Aurora University Spartan baseball team took on longtime rival Benedictine in a NACC doubleheader on Monday afternoon. The teams played a pair of close contests with AU falling in both, 7-2 and 7-3.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- Spartan Michael Fidler led off the second inning with a long solo home run giving AU a 1-0 lead.
- A fielding error in the third led to three BU runs and AU trailed 3-1.
- In the sixth, Jeff Woods led off with a double and was followed by an Adam Lipscomb single and Cole Davis sac fly pulling AU within one at 3-2.
- AU left the bases loaded in the seventh, missing a chance to tie or take the lead.
- BU got five hits and scored four runs to take a 7-2 lead in the eighth inning.

- AU threatened in the third but left a pair on without scoring.
- BU scored one with a walk and two hits in the bottom of the third.
- Three straight singles welcomed AU in the fourth with Michael Fidler driving in Adam Lipscomb. After a Ty Jaquez ground rule double, Jeff LaPage singled to score Nick Turner and AU led 2-1.
- Two hit batsmen and two hits led to three BU runs in the fifth and AU trailed 4-2.
- Three walks and a pair of singles led to three BU runs in the eighth.
- Nick Turner hit a one out triple and scored on a Ty Jaquez single in the ninth but that was the only damage AU would manage and fell 7-3.
