The Aurora University softball team lost to Dominican University 4-3 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament opening game on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- AU saw Dominican score all four of their runs in the fourth inning behind four singles and a walk off AU starter
Britni Wilson.
- Spartan
Cat Yanis came on in relief in the fourth and held the Stars scoreless over the next 3-1/3 innings.
- The Spartans managed their first hit in the fourth when
Elaine Walker singled. But Walker and Steph Starr were stranded on first and third with no outs.
- The fifth inning saw AU manage to break the scoreless drought with two outs. Lauren O'Daniel scored on a single from
Brianna Lewis and Lewis scored on a double from
Elaine Walker.
- In the sixth the Spartans added a run with three consecutive singles from
Taylor Moore,
Laura Dierking and
Abbey Rosenow.
- The Spartans got a base runner in the seventh but could not tie or win the game and fell 4-3.
