The Aurora University baseball team wrapped up the Spalding University Derby Classic on Monday afternoon against Olivet College, winning 9-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans took a 1-0 lead in the second following a double from AJ Gill and a run scoring single from Jett Wedekind.
- The AU lead only lasted a half inning as Olivet pushed across four runs
- AU got a run back in the third with a bases loaded walk drawn by Cole Davis, scoring Cale Sparks.
- The Spartans found themselves down four at 6-2 after three innings of play.
- AU struck in the fourth with two on and two outs. A single from Austin Wiskow was followed by three walks and AU was within one at 6-5.
- The Spartans tied the game in the fifth courtesy of a perfectly executed walk off by Cale Sparks which scored Wedekind.
- AU continued to score and added a pair in the sixth to lead 8-6 with a Cole Davis double scoring Jeff Mayes and Paul Dobravec.
- AU pitcher Nicholas Mathey came in relief of reliever Will King and struck six over the next three innings.
- A run in the ninth added insurance for AU with Chris Roycroft coming on for his second save of the season as AU won 9-6.
