GAME ONE - HOW IT HAPPENED
- AU came out slugging in the first inning as
Elaine Walker led off with a triple and scored on a
Josie Bachtell double. Later in the inning after
Nina Tholl and
Sam Owens reached, Aly Tiexiera hit a two-run double and AU led 3-0.
- The AU bats went quiet for several innings though but Spartan pitcher
Hannah Tomasko kept Edgewood silenced through three innings.
- In the fourth, Edgewood scored two to make the game a one-run contest.
- Three singles in the fifth resulted in a Spartan run and AU now led 4-2.
Nina Tholl drove in
Brianna Lewis with the run.
- Tomasko kept Edgewood off the scoreboard and AU won 4-2.
GAME TWO - HOT IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans offense produced runs in all four innings that AU hit with the aid of numerous Edgewood defensive miscues.
- AU scored two in the first, once in the second and two more in the third to lead 5-0. All the runs were unearned.
- In the fourth, AU again capitalized on an Edgewood error but doubles from
Sam Owens and Aly Tiexiera helped scored four runs and enact the mercy rule.
- Edgewood would score once in the fifth and had the bases loaded but starter
Britni Wilson kept the eight run differential needed to end the game early.
