The Aurora University baseball team scored runs and runs in bunches as the Spartans swept a doubleheader with Rockford University, winning both games in mercy rule shortened fashion, 17-7 and 14-3.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- The Spartans found themselves down 3-0 after three innings with Rockford scoring a run in each inning as AU left runners stranded.
- AU starter
John Barnes got out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth and that sparked the Spartan offense.
- Four hits including a two run double from
Austin Wiskow along with two walks saw AU tie the game 3-3.
- Rockford took back a three run lead in the fifth and AU went to the bullpen with Nick Mathey coming in relief of Barnes.
- The Spartans would bat around in the bottom half of the inning as they scored six runs on six hits.

Austin Wiskow had his second two run double in as many innings.
- A two-out two run triple from
Jeff Mayes in the sixth produced two of three runs and AU led 12-6.
- Leading 12-7 going to the seventh, the Spartans approached the 10-run mercy rule and when
Bryce DeSpain singled to score
Jett Wedekind and
Davis Purviance, the game was over with a 17-7 AU win.
SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME TWO
- The Spartans took a 3-0 lead in the first, scoring the runs on one hit, an
AJ Gill two run double.
- Rockford scored a pair in the second to make the game a 3-2 affair through 1-1/2 innings.
- In the bottom of the third, AU forced two Rockford pitching changes, batted around while scoring six runs on six hits and Rockford committed three errors.
- Rockford added a run in the fourth thanks to a crazy bounced triple.
- AU added three more runs in the bottom of the inning with
Austin Wiskow hitting his fourth double of the day to drive in one run and Jtt Wedekind had a two-run single to make the score 12-3 AU.
- The Spartans added a run in the fifth and sixth to move into mercy rule range.

Carter Turnquist tossed a pair of shutout innings.
