The Aurora University men's basketball team came out of the gates on Wednesday night on fire and the hot shooting continued as the Spartans were victorious in run away fashion 104-71 against Dominican University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Â AU came out hot with five straight points from
Brandon James including a three to open the game. This went on to spark a 10-0 run before the first timeout.
- The Spartans scored 13 straight before giving up their first points of the game and then led 17-2 with just under four minutes played when Dominican called their second timeout.
- With 15:34 remaining in the first half a three-point splash from
Tyler Carlson put AU up 20-2.
- The Spartan lead grew to 24 after a deep three from Garrett Hoffman and AU led 38-14 with 9:42 remaining in the first half.
- AU saw their large lead shrink to 14 with 13:24 remaining in the half but that was the closest that Dominican would get the remainder of the game.
- The Spartans extended their lead to 23 after two free throws from KyleÂ
Ottens. AU led 61-38 at the end of the first half.
- The second half started with AU maintaining their lead. This included a short jumper from
Jesse Young to give AU the 77-53 lead with 13:18 remaining.
- AU took advantage of two straight Dominican turnovers with three point strikes from Garrett Hoffman andÂ
De'Ante Walker to go up 83-53 with 12:10 remaining in the game.
- A 19-1 Spartan run over 5:30 of game clock pushed the AU lead to 42 points at 96-54. The run saw AU knock down five three's and go six-of-nine from the field and four-of-four from the free throw line.
- AU got points off the bench from BryceÂ
Pedrin, KyleÂ
Ottens and
Marquis Howard and led 104-67 with 3:28 remaining in the game.
