Softball splits day one of spring trip

The 2019 spring trip to central Florida is underway for the Aurora University softball team and AU is 1-1 after a split of the doubleheader on the opening day.

Game Two Score: Aurora University 8, Ohio Northern University 0 - 5 innings

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE vs. Penn State Behrend
- AU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first with a two-run double from Aly Teixeira being the big hit of the opening inning.
- The Spartans added two more runs in the second to lead 5-0. A two-run home run from Elaine Walker scored Brianna Lewis.
- Behrend scored four times in the bottom of the second with the aid of two AU errors. All four runs were unearned off Spartan pitcher Stephanie Renner.
- Senior Nina Tholl added the sixth AU run in the fifth inning with a solo home run.
- Two AU errors in the bottom of the inning allowed Behrend to score a run.
- Behrend scored three times in the bottom of the sixth inning and defeated AU 8-6.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME TWO vs. Ohio Northern University
- After a quick 1-2-3 inning by Hannah Tomasko in the first, the AU bats came to life and scored four times for a 4-0 lead.
- Elaine Walker and Josie Bachtell started the inning with back to back doubles.
- The Spartans added a run in the third and then three more in the fourth.
- Hannah Tomasko earned the win, pitching five innings, allowing three hits and struck out three.
