The Aurora University baseball team knocked off long-time regional rival Carthage College 9-3 in Tucson, Arizona on Monday night.

- The first three innings saw neither team with a hit while both had runners reach with a walk.
- In the top of the fourth, the Spartan bats came to life, collecting five hits and scoring six runs to take a commanding 6-0 lead.

- Carthage scored solo runs in the fourth and fifth with AU leading 6-2 heading to the eighth.

- In the eighth, the Spartans added three insurance runs. Mayes and
Cole Davis led off with back to back doubles and later in the inning
AJ Gill had a two-run single to drive in the runs.
- Carthage added a run in the ninth before Fidler struck out the final hitter to seal the 9-3 victory.
