The Aurora University baseball team split a NACC doubleheader against Illinois Tech, winning game one 8-7 in 12 exciting innings and losing game two 8-5.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- The Spartans had base runners in every inning through the first six but found themselves trailing 5-0 going to the seventh.
- AU finally scratched through in the seventh, scoring three times on a double and single.

AJ Gill hit a three-run home run in the eighth and AU led for the first time, 6-5.
- IIT got a solo home run with one out in the ninth to tie the game.
- The game headed into extras and in the 11th, IIT took a 7-6 lead.
- AU led off the 11th with back to back singles and when a one-out intentional walk loaded the bases,
Jett Wedekind hit a long fly out to tie the game and extend the game another inning.
- In the 12th,
Jeff Mayes singled with one out and when
Colin Rivard ripped a single past the IIT third baseman with two outs, Mayes scored the winning run and AU was victorious 8-7.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME TWO
- The Spartans got a lead off double from
Davis Purviance, a triple from
AJ Gill and when Gill scored on a ground out, AU led 2-0.
- IIT scored once in the second and twice in the third and led AU 3-2.
- In the fourth, freshman
Dylan White led off with a single and with two outs in the inning, executed a first and third play to tie the game 3-3.
- An error in the sixth allowed IIT to take a 4-3 lead.
- AU answered right back in the bottom of the inning with a lead off double from
Colin Rivard and he tied the game on a Gill sac fly.
- An error in the seventh extended the inning for IIT and when a slicing liner turned into a triple, IIT led 6-4.
- The visitors added two runs in the ninth and AU trailed 8-4.
- In the ninth, a one out ground rule double from
Michael Fidler was followed by a run scoring single from
Jett Wedekind.
- AU would fall 8-5 in game two.
