Women's Track and Field with 2020 NACC indoor trophy

The great eight as AU women continue domination of NACC with Indoor Championship

The Aurora University women's track team won the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship once again, captuing the eighth straight crown on Saturday in Kenosha, Wisconsin (at Carthage College). 

The AU women scored 164 points to win by 14 over the runner up Cougars of Concordia University Chicago. When the meet was complete, AU had 14 athletes finish in the top three of 16 various events and AU Head Coach Jeff Fellers earned NACC Coach of the Year honors.

Junior Elizabeth Branigan was named the NACC Field Athlete of the meet as she scored 21 points over four events, finishing second in the pole vault, third in the high jump, fifth in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump. 

Freshman Shyneis Campo was named the NACC Freshman of the meet as she scored 26 points, finishing a the gold medal winner in the 55 meter hurdles, second in the 55 meter, third in the long jump and seventh in the 200 meter.

Four Spartans claimed individual NACC Championships led by Campo in the 55 meter hurdle, Shelby Bergholz in the high jump, Katie Gonterman in the shot put and Jocelyn Ocon won the weight throw.

Head Coach Jeff Fellers was named Coach of the Year.

Next action for the Spartan women's track and field teams comes on Saturday, March 7 in the 2020 NCAA Last Chance meets hosted by Wartburg College. Meet time is set for 11:00 a.m. in Waverly, Iowa.
