AU men finish 20th at NCAA Midwest Regional

The Aurora University men's cross country team placed 20th at the 2021 Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Augustana College. The Spartans ended the season strong with lots of PRs.

Aurora was led by Jacob Bohnert who ran his fastest time of 26:37.7. Behind him was senior Jacob Hernandez who finished his collegiate cross country career with a huge PR of 27:16.8.  Rounding out the scoring for AU was Nick Valle, Cris Valencia, and Maximo Garcia. Valencia PR'd by 8 seconds and Garcia by 38 seconds. Fernando Viveros and Sam Brown also represented Aurora at the championship meet. They both had lifetime best performances as well.

"Our guys ran their hearts out this week and it showed. Really the right way to end the season," said Coach Alex Lowe. "Our top 5 averaged nearly a full minute faster than when we raced on this course a month ago. Jacob Hernandez stepped up big time to be our number two guy on the day and run a giant PR. Today's meet sets the tone for what this team is going to be able to do in track season and beyond."

This concludes the 2021 cross country season for the AU men's cross country team.
