Spartan Sports Weekly Outlook

In this week's Spartan Weekly Outlook, football and a women's cross country runner head to the NCAA Division III Championship, men's and women's hockey look to extend their winning streaks, women's wrestling competes in the first home dual in program history, and men's wrestling competes in the first home duel in programs return to campus.

  • Crystal Rios had 17 points, seven rebounds, and seven steals in victory over Elmhurst University.
  • Savannah Johnson had 14 points and five rebounds in victory over Elmhurst University.

  • Luke Silva won the 174 weight class, he had two falls and won the championship with a 9-8 decision.
  • Logan Balosky won at the 149 weight class, winning the final two events by falls.
WOMEN'S WRESTLING:

  • Finished 11th out of the 21 teams with 15.5 points at Adrian College Invite.

WOMEN'S BOWLING:
Last Result: 
  • Averaged 881 a game and shot a 4405, a new AU record on Saturday, November 13 in the Lady Jack Classic. 
Spartan Opponent:
  • Warhawk Invitational – Saturday, November 20 through Sunday, November 21 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.
Players to Watch:
  • Karlea Ceasario averaged 207.2 for 5 games, a new AU record, in the Lady Jack Classic. 
  • Emilie Pleshar shot 930 for 5 games placing her in 37th in the Lady Jack Classic.
FOOTBALL:
Record: 8-2 overall and 8-0 in the NACC
Last Week's Result:
  • Won 39-28 at Concordia University Wisconsin
    • The win clinched the outright NACC regular season championship and kept the Spartans undefeated in conference play.

  • NCAA Division III Playoff – First Round
    • Wheaton College – Saturday, November 20 – Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. in Wheaton, Ill. watch here.
Players to Watch:
  • Trey Madsen had 19 receptions for 164 receiving yards and three touchdowns in victory over Concordia University Wisconsin.
  • Christian Bower had eight tackles and two sacks in victory over Concordia University Wisconsin. 
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Last Week's Result:
  • AU finished 14th as a team at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional
    • Freshman Deyanneira Colon Maldonado finished 25th to earn All-Region honors.
Spartan Opponent:
  • NCAA Division III Championship
    • Saturday, November 20 – Tom Sawyer Park in Lousiville, Kentucky 11:00 a.m. (cst) / 12:00 p.m. (est)
Players to Watch:
  • Deyanneira Colon Maldonado received an at-large selection to the 2021 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
    • Colon Maldonado is the first Spartan cross country runner to qualify for the national championship since Jackie Schane in 2016 and fourth individual women Spartan to qualify.
