AU men run way to NACC Championship

Aurora University men's cross country won the 2020 NACC Conference Championships at Kress Kreek Farms in West Chicago, IL. The lead pack was filled with Spartan runners in the early stages of the race, and they held their position when the race began to space out after the 4k mark. They finished the meet with a total of 23 points, breaking the record for best team score ever recorded in the NACC. Placing in second and third were Wisconsin Lutheran and Concordia Wisconsin. This is the seventh title in program history for the Spartan men.

Seven Spartans placed in the top 15, earning All-Conference Honors. Scoring runners were Miguel Gonzalez (third), Cormac Dietz (fourth), Jacob Bohnert (sixth), Nick Valle (seventh), and Jeremiah Cooley (eighth). Fernando Viveros and Chris Valencia placed in 11th and 15th, respectively. Bohnert also ran his lifetime best of 28:23.3.

Head Coach Alex Lowe said, "Our men came into today with some big goals of not just winning but putting as many guys in the All-Conference slots as possible. And they executed on that. We had a ton of gutsy races throughout and big improvements from two weeks ago especially for Miguel Gonzalez and Jacob Bohnert. These guys have been working hard since September and it's really nice for them to see that effort rewarded with a Conference Championship."

This concludes the 2020 cross country season, and the Spartan men will now transition to outdoor track. Next action is Friday, April 9 when they travel to Benedictine University for The Eagle Invitational.
