Fast start leads to Spartan road win

The Aurora University women's hockey team got off to a hot start, scoring twice in the first 2:47 of the contest and went on to win 5-2 on Friday night at Trine University.

How it happened
- The Spartans took a 1-0 lead 1:20 into the first period when Taylor Sims scored an unassisted tally
- Just 1:27 later at 2:47 of the first, AU went up 2-0.
- AU chased the Trine starting tender with the second goal.
- The second AU goal came from Rachel Campoli with helpers from Makenna Brownlee and Olivia Matson.
- The Spartans maintained the 2-0 lead for the remainder of the first period.
- AU kept the 2-0 lead until 9:00 in the second when Haley Knauf scored. Campoli and Mak Cooke assisted on the third AU goal.
- Trine would score two times, one on the power play to cut the AU lead to 3-2 late in the third.
- A short time later the Spartans scored while on the power play. Marisa Trevino got the tally with assists from Knauf and Olivia Matson.
- AU carried the 4-2 lead into the second intermission.
- AU scored the only goal in the third with an unassisted tally from Rachel Campoli.
- The Spartans would win 5-2.
