Second quarter scoring frenzy lifts Spartans over Raiders

The Aurora University women's basketball team used a big scoring out put in the second and third quarters to lead to a 74-61 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering on Tuesday night.

How it happened
- The Spartans and Raiders played a back and forth first quarter with AU leading 13-12 after the first 10 minutes.
- AU utilized the three ball in the second quarter to pull away from MSOE.
- Three's from Macy Kocen, Julie Galauner and Eliot Dojutrek gave AU a 27-19 lead.
- A three from Victoria Perry and layup from Gabby Moore pushed the lead to 16 at 36-20 with 1:20 left.
- MSOE finished the half on a 5-0 run as AU led 36-25 going to halftime.
- The third quarter saw the Spartans maintain a steady lead in the low teens.
- MSOE cut the AU lead down to 13 at 50-37 with 2:35 left.
- The Spartans closed out the third on a 7-0 run and led 57-37.
- A three from Crystal Rios to start the fourth gave AU their largest lead of the game at 60-37.
- MSOE worked and chipped away at the Spartan lead, cutting it to 10 (65-55) with four minutes left.
- AU answered with a 9-1 run to put the game to rest.
- The Spartans were victorious 74-61.
