NACC preseason poll tabs Spartan softball third

The Aurora University softball program has been selected to finish third in 2022 by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) preseason poll as voted on by the conference coaches' and sports information directors.
 
AU enters the 2022 season after finishing the 2021 season with a 35-7 overall record and 18-2 in the NACC. AU has won 10 conference championships under Head Coach Mike McKenzie.

The Spartans received 295 points and four first-place votes in this years poll. Concordia University Wisconsin received 12 first-place votes and 315 points to earn the top spot in the poll, Milwaukee School of Engineering came in second in the poll with eight first-place votes and 306 points, followed by AU and Benedictine University with two first-place votes and 278 points overall. Marian University and St. Norbert College concluded the top six positions of the poll.
 
Rockford University came in seventh, followed by Dominican University, Lakeland University and Wisconsin Lutheran College completed the top 10 spots of the poll. To round out the bottom of the poll were Concordia University Chicago, Edgewood College, and Alverno College.
 
AU opens the season at The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida during spring break (March 6 to March 10). The Spartans will play Cornell College and Mount St. Joseph University in a doubleheader beginning at 9:00 a.m. (est) / 8:00 a.m. (cst) on Sunday, March 6.
 
The NACC's regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the six-team conference tournament, while the tournament champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament.
