Spartan women compete in final tune-up before NACC Championship

The Aurora University women's track and field team placed eighth at the Sol Butler Classic hosted by the University of Dubuque. The Spartans finished with 12 personal bests. 
 
Deyanneira Colon Maldonado place sixth in the 800 with a lifetime PR. Her time of 2:27.19 ranks her ninth in AU history. Colon Maldonado is now on the top ten list in every distance she has run this season. 
 
The 4x200 relay of Skylar Gibbs, Ari Mack, Hannah Cure, and Gianna Davis won the meet. Their time of 1:51.26 is the second fastest in program history.  
 
Madison Etheridge ran an indoor PR in the 800 while Isabella Encinas ran a lifetime PR. 

Abby Liesen, Emily Fetzer, Kelly Helton, Emily Samp, and Ava Sorgenfrey all ran PRs in the mile. Helton won her heat in 6:03.85. 
 
Shaley Gonzalez PR'd in the 3K with a time of 12:11.76. 
 
In the 400, Ari Mack placed seventh with her fastest time of 1:03.37. Alayna Kohler and Rachel Martinez also PR'd. 
 
Next action for the Spartan women's track and field team is Friday, February 25 when they travel to Ripon, Wisconsin for the 2022 NACC Conference Championships.
