The Aurora University women's track and field team placed fifth with 52.2 points at the 2022 Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Deyanneira Colon Maldonado won NACC Freshman of the Year after scoring 22 points across her three events. She won the 5K with a PR of 18:25.31. This time moves her up to fifth in school history.
On day two, Colon Maldonado ran lifetime bests in the mile and 3K. In the 3K, she earned All-Conference honors by placing second in 10:39.55. This time also ranks her fifth in AU history.Â
Emily Fetzer and
Abby Liesen also scored in the 5K. Fetzer earned All-Conference with a third-place finish running her fastest time of 19:31.43.
The distance medley relay of
Kelly Helton,
Rachel Martinez,
Alex Gonzalez, and
Madison Etheridge scored three points on day one. Etheridge also scored points individually for the Spartans in the mile and 800. Her time of 2:30.47 in the 800 is an indoor PR.
Alayna Koehler and
Skylar Gibbs both had lifetime bests in the pentathlon which consists of 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and the 800. Together they scored five points for the Spartans.Â
Lauren Spain scored in pole vault while
Gianna Davis scored in long jump. Koehler and
Hannah Cure placed in high jump, adding points for the Spartans.
The running events ended with another two points from the 4x400 relay of
Skylar Gibbs, Cure,
Shaley Gonzalez and Etheridge. They PR'd with a time of 4:22.67. In the 800,
Ava Sorgenfrey and A. Gonzalez ran PR's. S. Gonzalez won her heat of the mile with a lifetime PR of 5:51.64.
Katy Liesen also PR'd in the mile. Â
