Senior day success as Spartans shutout Sabres

The Aurora University women's hockey team celebrated senior day before taking to the ice and defeating the Sabres of Marian University 2-0.

Beyond the Box
Spartan Chiara Pfosi picked up her seventh shutout of the 2021-2022 season, putting her in a tie for the lead among Division III goaltenders.
The 18th win for the AU women sets a new program record, breaking the previous mark of 17 in the 2019-2020 season.

How it happened
    - The Spartans controlled the pace of play throughout the first period taking multiple shots, but were unable to find the back of the Sabres net.
    - With 26 seconds left to play in the first, Darci Matson got the Spartans on the board with an unassisted even strength goal.
    - Four minutes into the second period, Ellie Visser scored with an assist from Taylor Sims.
    - AU held the 2-0 lead going into the third period.
    - In the third, neither team managed to find a way to get the puck past the opposing goalie.
    - Chiara Pfosi had 20 saves through three periods and the Spartans out-shot the Sabres 46-20.
