The Aurora University men's track and field team placed fifth at the Windy City Rumble. The Spartans finished with a total of 17 PRs and two top-ten in school history performances.
The Spartans had a strong showing in the mile.
Jacob Bohnert,
Sam Brown,
Maximo Garcia,
Francis Balquin,
Cris Valencia, and Lucas Alverez all ran personal bests. Bohnert placed second with a time of 4:25.44. This time is the fifth fastest in AU history.
Bohnert and
Nick Valle ran PRs in the 3K, finishing in 9:13.42 and 9:26.19, respectively.
Following the mile, Alverez also PR'd in the 800.
Freshman
Liam Evans ran an indoor 400 PR.
Robbie Peterson,
Carlos Flores, and
Zavier Garcia all ran their fastest time in the 60-meter. Garcia also PR'd in the 200 while
Eli Grundman ran an indoor PR.
Steven Tinsley's best throw of 14.31m (46'11.5") in shot put moves him up to seventh in school history.
Nick Tannhauser also PR'd in shot put.
Next action for the Spartan men's track and field team is Saturday, February 12 when they compete at the Pat Heenan Invitational hosted by North Central College.
