Spartans go 1-1 and bow out of NACC Tournament

The Aurora University baseball team went 1-1 on day two of the 2022 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament defeating Benedictine University 7-1 before falling to Edgewood College 11-1 both in elimination games. The Spartans won the NACC regular season and now must wait for word from the NCAA on a possible pool c (at-large) selection.

How it happened
NACC Tourney Game One vs. Benedictine
- Both teams had multiple runners on in the first with neither scoring. 
- Two singles and a sac fly from BU in the second pushed across the games first run and AU trailed 1-0.
- The game remained 1-0 til the bottom of the fifth with AU starter Nick Malmberg working out of multiple jams.
- In the bottom of the fifth, the Spartans loaded the bases with one out on a hit by pitch, error and walk before NACC Player of the Year Justin Sartori hit a two-run double to give AU the lead.
- Jett Wedekind was intentionally walked to load the bases again when Dylan White drove in one after with a single. 
- Then with two outs, Collin Meinert singled to left center to score a pair and AU led 5-1.
- Malmberg continued to work around traffic on the bases but kept the Eagles from crossing the plate.
- In the seventh, Wedekind struck out but reached on a passed ball and he would score the sixth run of the game on a Meinert double.
- Anthony Touhy tossed the final two innings to eliminate Benedictine.
- Justin Sartori hit a home run in the eighth the seal the game as AU won 7-1.

How it happened
NACC Tourney Game Two vs. Edgewood
- The Spartans got off to a strong start with a solo home run from Justin Sartori in the top of the first to lead 1-0.
- The bottom of the first was one the Spartans would like to forget or get back. Edgewood scored six runs on five hits with starting pitcher Bryce Miller tossing 1/3 of an inning before being lifted for Tyler Preissing.
- AU loaded the bases with two outs in the second but were unable to push across a run.
- Edgewood would score a run in the bottom of the second, two in the sixth and two in the eighth to end the game in eight innings, 11-1.
