Spartans sweep final home series on Senior Day

The Aurora University baseball team hosted Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday. The Spartans defeated the Falcons 14-1 (7 innings) in game one, then again in game two, 3-1. Between games, the Spartans recognized the senior class of 2022.

How it happened
GAME ONE
- The Spartans struck early as when Jett Wedekind singled in Nico Bermeo in the 1st innings. 
- Two hitters later Jacob Ambuel left a dent in the scoreboard with his homerun to left field giving the Spartans a 4-0 lead.
- In the 3rd Spartan Dylan White added another run, scoring Justin Sartori on an RBI single.
- Wedekind delivered another run scoring single as his hit brought in Bermeo and Sean Rivera to extend the lead to 9-0.
- Spartan pitcher Jack Fisher was dealing only allowing one run in the 5th.
- The Spartans added three more runs in the 5th with Collin Meinert scoring on a wild pitch, and Rivera and Jack Seefeldt scoring on another Wedekind single.
- In the 6th Corey Vondra put the game out of reach of the Falcons scoring Seefeldt and Ambuel on his single.
- Spartan Tanner Turnquist came on in the 7th to record the final three outs of the game.
- Spartans win 14-1.

How it happened
GAME TWO
- The Spartans scored in the second as a Collin Meinert steal prompted the CUW catcher to throw the ball into left field scoring Dylan White. 1-0 Spartans.
- Spartan pitcher Nick Malmberg worked through 5.1 innings giving up only one run in the 4th.
- The Spartans answered that run quickly as Meinert singled in White for his second run of the game. 2-1 Spartans.
- After an intentional walk Dylan White ripped a single into right center field to score Justin Sartori, extending the lead to 3-1.
- The Falcons threatened to score in the later innings, but excellent relief from Spartans Seth Gutknecht and Skyler Yamamoto held the Falcons to just the one run.
- Spartans win 3-1.
