The Aurora University men's track team kicked off 2023 by competing in the Karl Schlender Invitational hosted by University of Wisconsin Whitewater. The Spartans finished second out of seven teams with a total of 109.5 points.
Jacob Bohnert opened his season with a 3000 meter run in 9:09.14, both winning the race and improving on his previous personal best by 4.28 seconds. This moves him up to the 8th fastest time in school history. Other scorers for the Spartans were
Cris Valencia,
Steven Kalish,
Joshua Beechler, and
Chase Pruett. All of the men ran personal bests.
The Spartans brought home another win in the 4x200 meter relay.
Malik Whitehead,
Jarrell Mays,
Zavier Garcia, and
Jahrel Rimpel completed the race in 1:36.74.
Steven Tinsley secured a new personal best of 15.56m in the weight throw. This result is the sixth best mark in Aurora history, as well as a 78 centimeter improvement from his previous best.
