Colon Maldonado earns All-Region honors as Spartans finish 12th at NCAA Midwest Regional

The Aurora University women's cross country team competed at the NCAA Division III Midwest Region Cross Country Championships hosted by Wartburg College. The Spartans placed 12th with a score of 296 points. 
Deedee Colon Maldonado secured all-region honors, placing ninth with a time of 21:28.8. This guarantees her a spot in the national meet as an individual qualifier. This is Maldonado's second consecutive top ten finish at the regional meet. 
Up next was the duo of N'dya Fields and Abby Liesen. Fields placed 52nd with a time of 23:27.9, and Liesen placed 60th with a time of 23:35.9. 
Rounding out the scoring were freshman Savannah Vasquez and Madison Etheridge. Vasquez placed 88th with a time of 24:18.5, and Etheridge placed 89th with a time of 24:23.7.

Colon Maldonado will compete on Saturday, November 18 at 12:00 p.m. (est) / 11:00 a.m. (cst) at the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship. The championship is being run in Newville, Penn. at Big Spring High School.
