The Aurora University Track and Field team competed in the PNW Classic track meet hosted by Purdue Northwest at the Gately Track and Field Complex. This meet was unscored.
Nate Bermes led the way for the Spartans with a very strong season debut in the pole vault. His mark of 4.31 is a new indoor personal best and is now the fourth best in AU history.
Freshman Trevor Neal made his collegiate debut in the 60m hurdles. His time of 9.36 puts him as the ninth fastest hurdler in Aurora history.
2023 national qualifier
Steven Tinsley picked up where he left off last year's campaign by finishing second in the shot put.
Some of the best improvement of the off-season was shown in the 60m dash.
Ethan Taylor dropped more than half a second from last year's mark, and led the way for the Spartans with a time of 7.12.
Jahrel Rimpel was close behind him in 7.16, and freshman Eli McFadden ran a strong 7.22. McFadden was also the top Spartan in the 200m dash with a time of 23.13
Up next for the Spartans is the Aurora Grand Prix, which will be hosted back at Gately Park on January 19.
