Pair of Spartans open indoor season at Sharon Colyear-Danville

The Aurora University Track and Field team had a pair of athletes compete at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University on Saturday. The meet was unscored and featured many of the best Division I, II, and III distance runners from across the country.

Fresh off her All-American finish in cross country, Deedee Colon Maldonado opened her track season by racing the 5,000m. She finished in a new personal best of 17:32.29, which is a 13-second improvement from what she ran last year. That time currently ranks her 18th in Division III. It is the second fastest time in AU history.

Madison Etheridge ran the mile. She finished in 5:28.03, which is the best time in the NACC to start the season. She finished tenth in her heat.     Up next for the Spartans is the Early Bird Multi hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on December 8, 2023.
