Spartans have strong performances at Heenen Invite

The Aurora University men's track and field team continued their season by competing at the Pat Heenan Invitational hosted by North Central College.
Cris Valencia started things strong for the Spartans with a five second PR in the 5k. His time of 15:50.45 moves him up to sixth in school history in the event. Valencia is currently ranked ninth in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference. Steven Kalish ran an 11 second personal record in the event as well, with a time of 16:11.28.
Danyrine White ran a season best in the 400 meter dash, with a time of 51.03. He finished third in the event overall, scoring for the Spartans. He is currently ranked first in this event in the NACC. MeKhii Morris-Heron clocked a time of 53.27, also scoring for the team. 
Jahrel Rimpel scored for the team in the 60 meter dash, running a personal record of 7.22s to finish sixth.
Eli Grundman won the Pole Vault competition with a mark of 4.50 meters. Nate Bermes placed fifth in the event with a mark of 4.20 meters. The men are currently ranked first and fourth in the NACC, respectively.
Steven Tinsley and Nick Tannhauser also moved up on the NACC rankings, finishing fourth and seventh in the Shot Put. Tinsley threw a season best of 14.65 meters, and Tannhauser a PR of 13.96m.
The men compete next on Saturday, February 18th at the Margaret Bradley Invitational hosted by University of Chicago.
