AU men finish third in NACC Indoor Championship

The Aurora University men's track and field team placed third at the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference Championship meet hosted by Illinois Tech. The team finished with a score of 89 points.
Steven Tinsley won the shot put with a season best throw of 14.99 meters. Dylan Whisenant placed fourth with 13.43 meters, Nick Tannhauser placed fifth with 13.38 meters, and freshman Phoenix Cooper placed seventh with 13.26 meters.
Danyrine White secured the win in the 400 meter dash in a season best time of 50.38. Freshman MeKhii Morris-Herron finished fourth with a personal record of 51.41.
Jalen Cole earned all conference honors in the weight throw, finishing third with a mark of 15.78 meters. Tinsley also scored in this event, finishing fourth with a mark of 15.43.
Freshman Joshua Beechler, Jacob Bohnert, Morris-Herron, and White scored eight points in the 4x400 meter relay, finishing second in the event.
Eli Grundman finished second overall in the pole vault with a height of 4.51 meters.
Aurora had three men score in the 60 meter dash. Malik Whitehead finished fifth in 7.24, Freshman Ray Ray Ayala finished seventh in 7.30, and Freshman Jahrel Rimpel finished eighth in 7.87. Whitehead w
Liam Evans, Sam Brown, Morris-Heron, and Bohnert finished third in the distance medley relay with a time of 10:50.84. 
The 200 meter dash rounded up six points for the team, with White finishing fourth and Rimpel finishing eighth.
Eric Teverbaugh and Freshman Anthony Salinas scored for the Spartans in the heptathlon. Treverbaugh finished sixth with a score of 3063 points. Salinas, competing in his first heptathlon, finished seventh with 3040 points.
Whitehead finished seventh in the long jump, scoring for the team with a distance of 6.24 meters.
Cris Valencia ran a PR in the 5000 meter run, his time of 15:49.68 ranking sixth in school history.

The men will compete next at the Wartburg NCAA Qualifier in Waverly, Iowa. Competition will begin on Friday, March 3rd.
