Maldonado nearly sets AU mark at Keck

The Aurora University women's track and field team competed at the Keck DIII Select meet hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University.
The competition began with the Pentathlon on Friday. Skylar Gibbs and Hannah Cure both had impressive feats, both women's scores putting them in Aurora's record book. Gibbs finished her season debut with a score of 2626 points. Cure, competing in her first ever pentathlon, earned a score of 2343. The women are now third and ninth in Spartan history, respectively.
Deyanneira Colon Maldonado had an impressive pair of races, beginning with a competitive mile. Winning the race with more than a seven second PR of 5:06.32, she is now second in Aurora University's history. This time is only one second away from the school record. Colon doubled back in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.59. This time places her sixth in school history. Colon is currently ranked second in both events in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference. 
Lauren Bliefernicht ran the 200 meter dash in 26.89 seconds. This time maintains her position of seventh in school history. Bliefernicht is currently ranked second in the conference in this event.

Up next, the Spartans will be competing at the Pat Heenan Invitational hosted by North Central College. The meet will take place on Saturday, February 11th.
