Aurora University Athletics

The Aurora University softball team hosted Franklin College Friday afternoon for their 2023 home opener. The Spartans split the doubleheader losing game one 2-0 and winning game two 1-0.

Game One 
- Franklin got on the board first in the top of the second.
- The Grizzlies added one in the top of the sixth 
- AU struggled offensively and was unable to answer back as they scattered four hits in the game.
- Franklin won game one 2-0.

Game Two 
- AU and Franklin played through four scoreless innings in a pitchers duel.
- The Spartans opened up the scoring up in the fifth. 
- Kionna King started the rally with a single up the middle followed by a single from pitch hitter Alyson Haegele. With one out and runners on first and second, Jemma Fiehweg singled and the Spartans had bases loaded. Faith Biggs stepped to the plate and scored pitch runner Mackenzie Burnett with a sacrifice fly to right field. 
- Rylee Campbell kept the Franklin offense from pushing a run across with seven strikeouts in the game and making the lone run hold up.
- The Spartans walked away with a 1-0 win.
