Colon-Maldonado shines at Wartburg qualifier

The Aurora University women's track and field team competed at the Wartburg NCAA Qualifier in Waverly, Iowa. 
Deyanneira Colon Maldonado placed fourth in the mile, running a seven second PR of 4:59.08 to set a new school record. As the first AU woman to run under 5 minutes in the event, Colon beat the previous school record by six seconds.
Skylar Gibbs placed fourth in the Pentathlon with a 71 point PR of 2819. This score is second in AU history. Gibbs had a lifetime PR in the high jump, and a season best finish in the 800 meter run. 
Lauren Bliefernicht ran a time of 8.07 in the 60 meter dash, tying for third in school history. Bliefernicht returned to PR in the 200 meter dash as well, running a time of 26.44. This time is sixth in Aurora history. 
Madison Etheridge ran a lifetime PR in the 800 meter run, finishing in 2:23.95. This time is fifth in school history. 
Abby Liesen ran her second fastest time of the season in the 3000 meter run, finishing in 11:05.04. 
Keyara Bailey and Rebekah Hannah competed in the high jump, jumping 1.48 meters and 1.43 meters, respectively.

Next action for the AU women's track and field team comes in the outdoor schedule on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1 at the Illinois State University Redbird Challenge in Normal, Illinois.
