AU men compete at Wheaton

The Aurora University men's track and field team competed at the Wheaton Invitational on Friday, April 14th and Saturday, April 15th. 
Freshman Mekhii Morris-Heron ran an outdoor personal record of 50.51 in the 400 meter dash, winning his heat and placing sixth overall in the meet. This time is eighth in school history. Morris-Heron is currently ranked second in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference. 
Eli Grundman placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.40m. He is currently ranked fourth in the NACC. Nate Bermes placed eighth, matching his outdoor PR of 4.10m which is the eighth best mark in school history. 
Morris-Heron, Liam Evans, Malik Whitehead, and freshman Joshua Beecher ran a season best of 3:29.13 in the 4x400m relay, ranking third in the NACC. 
Cris Valencia moved into the NACC top 10 on the season with a 5k time of 16:10.25, ranking him ninth. 
Steven Tinsley and Dylan Whisenant had season best hammer throws of 39.73m and 38.97m, respectively. Those marks rank them eighth and ninth in the NACC.
Up next, the Spartans will be competing at the Don Church Twilight meet, hosted by Wheaton College on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023.
