The Aurora University Spartan baseball team had to battle the Thunder from mother nature before taking on and defeating the Wheaton College Thunder Wednesday night in Carol Stream. AU was victorious 7-4.

- AU jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with a one out double from
Jacob Ambuel and after a
Justin Sartori single, Ambuel scored on a
Jett Wedekind single.
- Wheaton tied the game in the bottom of the first with a near image of the top of the frame.
- The Spartans threatened in the fourth, loading the bases with no outs but came up empty as the game remained 1-1.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Wheaton scored a pair on a two-out triple to lead 3-1.

Jacob Welbes was lifted after 4-2/3 innings of strong work with eight strikeouts and allowed three runs.
- As they have almost every time they have trailed this season, the Spartans answered right away.

Nico Bermeo scored on a Sartori double.
- After 5-1/2 innings, AU led 5-3.

Brian Henehan in the seventh with doubles but AU still led 5-4.

Tyler Preissing worked a quick 1-2-3 eighth inning to keep the Spartan lead at one.
- With one out the bottom of the AU order got a rally going in the ninth. Patton walked and Curcio singled.Â

Jon Wray scored on a single from Ambuel and Curcio then scored on a second double of the night from Sartori for a 7-4 AU lead.
