The NCAA Division III baseball tournament selection committee announced the field for the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships on Monday, May 15. The Spartans received an automatic (Pool A) bid by winning the 2023 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament title and are in the field for the 2023 Baseball championships.
The Spartans of Aurora University (39-4 overall) will host John Carroll University (28-14 overall), winners of the Ohio Athletic Conference, in the Aurora Regional on Jim Schmid Field at Stuart Sports Complex. Making their 25th appearance overall and fifth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, the Spartans will take on John Carroll on Friday, May 19 with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m. The teams will play two games on Saturday, May 20 with first-pitch of game one at 11:00 a.m. Two games are scheduled on Sunday, May 21 as if needed games in the best of five series with first pitch slated for 11:00 a.m.
AU is 3-1 against teams in the field of 60 with a wins over St. John Fisher University, Loras College and Buena Vista University and a loss to Rowan University AU and JCU share one commo opponent in the University of Mount Union which AU defeated on their spring trip and John Carroll split the conference match-up.
The Spartans earned their place in the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships after winning the 2023 Northern Athletics Conference Conference (NACC) regular seasn and tournament championship. The Spartans have a 39-4 overall record.
