Vercautren named PING NCAA Division III All-American

Aurora University senior Jack Vercautren continues to add to his awards portfolio with being selected as a 2022-2023 Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) - PING NCAA Division III All-American when the teams were announced today. Vercautren was tabbed as a member of the Third-Team.

His All-American honor comes two weeks after he was named the recipient of the 2022-2023 Roger Fleming Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Golfer of the Year award and In May, he was named all-region by the GCAA.

The NACC Men's Golfer of the Year honor for Vercautren was his third consecutive time earning the honor and the fifth honor in succession for an AU golfer. The award honors the legacy of the late Roger Fleming, the founding director of athletics and longtime head men's golf coach at Wisconsin Lutheran College.

On the season, Vercautren registered top-three finishes in eight of 11 events this season. He finished third in the Aurora Double Gun, Carthage Fall Classic, and Illinois Wesleyan Spring Invitational and placed second in the Golfweek Division III Invitational, Clarke Spring Invitational, and North Central (Ill.) Spring Classic in addition to tying for medalist honors at the Wisconsin Lutheran Fall Invitational. Vercautren also tied for the low 72-hole total at the NACC Championships but was denied a third-straight medalist honor by teammate Scott Boyajian in a one-hole playoff.

Vercautren also posted AU's low individual score at the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships after firing back-to-back 74s for a 148 total. He missed the 36-hole cut in the individual race by just three strokes. He posted the NACC's top scoring average, averaging 72.8 strokes over 24 rounds. He fired eight rounds at par or below (all sub-72) led by a NACC-record-tying 6-under-par 65 in the second round of the Golfweek Invitational in mid-October. Vercautren also set a NACC Championship single-round record with a 6-under 66 in the opening round at Blackwolf Run the prior week (Oct. 9, 2022).
