Spartans Back To .500 With Win Over Edgewood

The Aurora University men's basketball team squared off against Egdewood College in a NACC match-up on the road on Wednesday night. Dwayne Jervier Jr. led the Spartans with 19 points on an efficient 9-13 shooting to help AU knock off the Eagles 79-67.

How it happened
- Back-to-back three-pointers from Isaiah Davis gave AU a 14-13 lead at the 13:00 mark of the first-half.
- A 7-0 run put the Spartans ahead by six after Trey Jenkins converted a three-point play. The finish at the rim and free throw made it 23-17 AU just past the halfway point of the first-half.
- Mekhi Doby knocked down a couple of free throws with 1:36 to go to allow the Spartans to regain a six-point lead.
- AU led 40-37 after the first-half.
- Dwayne Jervier Jr. paced the AU offense in the half with 10 points on an efficient 5-8 shooting.
- The Spartans dominated early around the rim outscoring the Eagles 22-12 in the paint, including grabbing 10 offensive rebounds as a team.
- AU went on a 9-0 run after going cold to start the second-half to get out to a 56-49 lead.
- Jervier Jr. netted back-to-back baskets to give AU their first double-digit lead of the game at 65-55 with 8:54 to go.
- AU took their largest lead at 77-60 with 3:32 left after another Davis triple.
- AU coasted to a 79-67 victory.
- The Spartans shot 54% from the field in the second-half and held a lead for all but two minutes of the half.
- Five Spartans ended up reaching double figures in scoring as Jervier Jr. finished with 19 points.'
- Jervier Jr. also made his presence felt on the defensive end with three steals.
