Colon Maldonado Places 4th At Pre-Nationals

The Aurora University Women's cross country team competed at D3 Pre-Nationals hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The team scored 763 points to finish 28th in a competitive Pre-National field. 

Deedee Colon Maldonado was the top Spartan runner. She finished fourth in the field of 389, racing to a time of 21:34.9. This is the second fastest time Colon Maldonado has ever run, and she defeated multiple returning All-Americans in the field.  

The second Spartan across the line was N'dya Fields, in a time of 24:11.9. 

Aurora's third finisher was Emma Jasutis. She completed the six-kilometer course in 24:40.3. 

Savannah Vazquez finished fourth for the Spartans in a time of 24:53.7. 

Following close behind were Susana Martinez and Alex Gonzalez in 24:57.3 and 24:57.4, respectively. 

Mia Luna completed the top seven for Aurora, finishing with a time of 25:08.7. 

AU also had five women compete in the open race. They were led by Mika Fields, with a time of 26:17.4. 

The next race for the Spartan Cross Country team comes on Saturday, October 19th as they run at the Augustana Interregional Invitational hosted by Augustana College. The meet is at Saukie Golf Course in Augustana, Illinois.
