Colon Maldonado shatters record again at GVSU Big Meet

A pair of athletes competed at the Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State University on Friday, February 9th.

Deyanneira Colon Maldonado placed 9th in the 5000 meter run. Her time of 16:46.19 was a 46 second personal record, and currently ranks her 9th in the nation. This time sits atop the performance list for the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference, and is a new NACC record as well. The oversized track conversion of 16:53.90 is also a new school record for Aurora, breaking the previous record by 37 seconds.

Lauren Bliefernicht competed in the 200 meter dash. She placed 27th with a time of 26.04.

Up next, the Spartans compete at the Windy City Rumble hosted by the University of Chicago. Competition begins Saturday, February 10th.
