Spartan women gear up for NACC Championship at Slick Invite

The Aurora University women's track and field team competed at the Slick Invitational hosted by North Central College on Friday, February 16th. The Spartans placed fourth out of nine teams with a score of 45.33. They were third among Division III teams. 
Freshman Savannah Vasquez placed fifth in the 800 meter run with a personal record of 2:27.10. This time is tenth in school history, and currently ranks her fourth in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference. 
Freshman Mika Fields, Freshman Emma Jasutis, August Pautsch, and Alex Gonzalez placed second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:34.07. 
Keyara Bailey tied for second in High Jump with a season best height of 1.53m. Rebekah Hannah tied for fifth with a mark of 1.48m, also a season best height. 
Paige Chapin and Marisa Janecek had a strong day in throws, each athlete scoring in both events. Chapin placed fourth in shot put with a mark of 10.76m, and seventh in weight throw with a mark of 9.98m. Janecek placed eighth in shot put with a mark of 9.76m, and fourth in weight throw with a PR of 12.47m. 
Emily Fetzer and Natalie Flores placed sixth and seventh in the 3000 meter run, respectively. Fetzer ran a time of 11:44.21 and Flores ran a time of 11:56.53. 
Lauren Bliefernicht tied her PR of 7.94 in the preliminary round of the 60 meter dash, qualifying for finals. She placed seventh in the meet with a final time of 8.01. She also placed eighth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.08. 
Mary Dietz qualified for finals in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.39 in the preliminary round. She placed seventh in the final with a time of 9.70. 
N'Dya Fields placed eighth in the mile run with a PR of 5:32.86.

Up next, the Spartans compete at the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference indoor championship meet. Competition begins Friday, February 23rd in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
