Cobbett goal in double overtime lifts Spartans over River Falls

A goal from senior Danielle Cobbett in double overtime lifted the Aurora University women's lacrosse team to an 18-17 victory over the visiting Falcons from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. The Spartan win gave AU Head Coach Christina Fried her 100th as a Head Coach of the AU women's lacrosse program in her 10th season.

- AU Head Coach Christina Fried won her 100th career game as Head Coach in her 157th game. 

How it happened
- The first quarter was high scoring with UWRF leading 7-4 after 15 minutes.
- Brianna Peck scored the first three AU goals with Nicolina Smith adding a goal.
- AU started the second with three consecutive goals to tie the game 7-7.
- Goals came from Kenly Axvig, Kielly Reeve and Danielle Cobbett.
- UWRF took a 9-7 lead before Axvig scored her second of the day to bring AU down one at 9-8.
- A pair of UWRF short-handed goals saw the Spartans trail 11-8 with 2:40 left in the half.
- Cobbett and Peck would tally goals in the final minutes to send the teams to halftime with AU trailing 11-10.
- The high scoring first-half gave way to a low scoring third quarter with the teams combining for just three goals.
- Cobbett scored her third of the day for the only AU tally as the Spartans trailed 13-11 going to the fourth.
- The Spartans dominated a majority of the fourth, scoring five straight goals in the period to take a 16-13 lead.
- Peck, Taylor Janssen, Axvig and a pair of goals from Caley Russell accounted for the five goals in the first 7:04 of the fourth.
- After two UWRF goals, Axvig scored to put AU back up two goals with 6:37 left in the game.
- The score remained 17-15 until just over three minutes to play when UWRF scored.
- The visitors then scored on a power play with 1:50 to go to tie the game up 17-17.
- Both the Spartans and Falcons had scoring chances in the final minute but the game would head to overtime.
- The first six minute overtime went with again both teams having scoring chances but the defenses and goalies making stops.
- The game remained tied going to a second overtime session.
- AU and Brianna Peck won the draw in the second overtime and just 17 seconds later Caley Russell found Danielle Cobbett who buried her shot for the game winning goal.
- The Spartans celebrated the 18-17 double overtime win.
