AU women set records at Ole Miss

The Aurora University women's track and field team began their outdoor season at the Ole Miss Classic hosted by the University of Mississippi on Friday, March 22nd and Saturday, March 23rd. 
Deedee Colon Maldonado set the school record in the 1500 meter run, placing fourth with a 10 second personal record of 4:34.13. This time is also a Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference record. Maldonado continued her day by winning the 3000 meter run. She pulled away from the field with 800 meters to go and was victorious over a strong field. Her time of 9:58.54 is a new Aurora school record. 
Silja Erickson threw a 1.92 meter PR in the shot put, placing 20th. This mark is fourth in school history. 
Madison Etheridge ran a four second PR of 4:51.81 in the 1500 meter run, placing twelfth. This time is sixth in school history. She doubled back in the 800, placing 6th with an outdoor PR of 2:20.87. This performance is fifth in school history. 
Lauren Bliefernicht ran an outdoor PR of 25.46 in the 200 meter dash. This performance improves on the sixth best time in school history. 
N'dya Fields ran an outdoor PR in the 3000 meter run, placing 16th with a time of 11:16.69. This time is seventh in school history. She also ran a five second personal best in the 1500 meter run, placing 19th with a time of 5:00.64
Skylar Gibbs had a personal best performance in the 400 meter hurdles, placing fourth with a time of 1:09.66. This time is seventh in school history.

Up next, the Spartans compete at the First Chance Invitational hosted by North Central College. Competition begins on Thursday, March 28th.
