Spartans continue homestand with split vs Raiders

The Aurora University baseball team hosted the Raiders of Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday afternoon for another Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Jim Schmid Field. AU grabbed an early lead in game one but saw it slip away in a 10-4 game one loss, but did comeback to avenge the Raiders in a 16-5 game two victory in eight innings.

How it happened
Game One:
- The Raiders scored the game's first run in the top of the second inning for a 1-0 lead.
- AU answered back with four runs in their half of the second, starting with a Sean Rivera two-run double. 
- A couple of batters later, Nico Bermeo went the opposite way for a two-run double of his own.
- The visitors scored four runs in the top of the fifth for a 5-4 lead.
- In the top of the sixth, the Raiders took a 7-4 lead.
- The Spartans would be defeated by a score of 10-4 in game two after MSOE scored three runs in the top of the seventh.

Game Two:
- AU didn't waste anytime taking a 4-0 lead in the first inning, starting with a Nik Panico RBI single that scored Joe Lukancic.
- It quickly became 2-0 when Dominick Curcio singled through the right side to bring home Derek Angelo.
- Back-to-back RBI singles from Brenden Naylor and Spencer Ruch later in the first made it 4-0.
- MSOE scored one run in the top of the second to cut the AU lead to 4-1.
- The Spartans answered back with two runs of their own in their half of the second to make it 6-1.
- The score became 6-2 in the top of the third after the Raiders brought a run across.
- In the bottom of the third, Angelo laced a two-run double that extended the AU lead to 8-2.
- The Raiders would score three runs in the top of the fourth.
- An Angelo sac-fly and Panico RBI single in the bottom of the fifth made it 10-5 in favor of the Spartans.
- AU tacked on one more in the sixth on a Ruch RBI single.
- Angelo continued his strong day in the seventh with an RBI double, before a Riley single made it a 13-5 AU lead.
- Panico sealed the deal with a three-run shot for the 16-5 AU victory.
