Throwers shine at Chicagoland

The Aurora University men's track and field team competed at the Chicagoland Championships hosted by Elmhurst University on Friday, April 5th and Saturday, April 6th. The Spartans placed 11th out of 21 teams with a score of 29.5 points. 
Cam'ron Harper was the meet champion in shot put, throwing a 47 centimeter personal best of 14.62 meters. This mark is ninth in school history. Steven Tinsley placed second in the event with a mark of 14.60 meters. The pair are currently ranked first and second in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference, respectively. 
Freshman Armando Acosta placed fifth in the 800 meter run with a PB of 1:54.55, which is third in school history. This time currently ranks him 25th in the nation. 
Brian Nasr placed fifth in the Javelin throw with a mark of 47.42 meters. 
Ethan Sena tied for seventh place in pole vault with a PB height of 3.90 meters. 
The Spartan 4x400 meter relay comprised of Joshua Beechler, Acosta, Sam Brown, and Jacob Bohnert placed seventh with a time of 3:31.06. 
Cris Valencia ran a lifetime best in the 5000 meter run. His time of 15:41.27 is fifth in school history. He also ran a PB in the outdoor 3k with a time of 9:09.73. This time is also fifth in school history.
