AU women tear up track at Chicagoland

The Aurora University women's track and field team competed at the Chicagoland Championships hosted by Elmhurst University on Friday, April 5th and Saturday, April 6th. The Spartans placed eighth out of 21 teams with a score of 38 points. 
Madison Etheridge broke the school record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17.67. This time currently ranks 35th in the nation. The previous Aurora record stood for 10 years. 
Lauren Bliefernicht placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.63. She was the top Division III finisher in the event. She also placed 6th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.39. 
Deedee Colon Maldonado placed fourth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:34.35. She was the top Division III finisher in the race. 
The Spartan 4x400 meter relay comprised of Ari Mack, Bliefernicht, freshman Mika Fields, and Etheridge placed fourth with a time of 4:10.10. 
Abby Liesen placed sixth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:06.63. She also ran a lifetime best of 10:51.91 in the 3000 meter run. This performance is fifth in school history. 
Ashlyn Nakashima placed fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 33.35 meters. 
The Spartan 4x100 meter relay comprised of Skylar Gibbs, Bliefernicht, freshman Grace Bielfus, and Mary Dietz placed fifth with a time of 50.03. 
Emily Fetzer placed sixth in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 41:36.88. 
Faustyna Karpiesiuk placed eighth in triple jump with a mark of 10.51 meters. 
Savannah Vasquez ran a six second PB in the 1500 meter run. Her time of 4:58.18 is 10th in school history. She doubled back to run a lifetime best in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:08.54. This performance is sixth in school history.
