Spartans too much for Raiders

The Aurora University women's lacrosse team got their record back .500 for the 2024 season on Tuesday night when they traveled to Milwaukee School of Engineering, knocking off the Raiders 17-2 in another NACC showdown. This now marks the third-straight win for the Spartans who did not allow the Raiders to score until the second half of Tuesday night's contest.

How it happened
- It didn't take long for AU to get on the board as Caley Russell found Brianna Peck for a Spartan goal 43 seconds in.
- Russell picked up another assist just over a minute later when Kenly Axvig found the back of the net for a 2-0 AU lead.
- Danielle Cobbett and Nicolina Smith each netted unassisted goals for a 4-0 Spartan lead in the first.
- With 8:56 to go in the first, Cobbett assisted Axvig for another AU goal.
- Kielly Reeve got in on the scoring fun 42 seconds later with Cobbett on the assisting end again.
- The duo of Axvig and Cobbett made it made it 7-0 in favor of AU with 7:55 left in the first frame.
- Cobbett shifted her way around a couple of Raider defenders for one more Spartan tally before the end of the first.
- AU secured a power play with 11:48 on the clock in the second and Ari Rootberg found Peck for a 9-0 Spartan advantage.
- The score became 10-0 when Cobbett found Russell for another goal.
- Back-to-back goals from Grace Pelletier and Axvig gave AU a 12-0 lead heading into halftime.
- After a Raider goal to open the second half, Rootberg answered back to put the Spartan lead at 13-1.
- Goals from Cobbett and Reeve before the end of the third quarter increased the score to 16-1.
- Cobbett scored her fourth goal of the game and Spartans 17th as a team with 11:57 on the clock in fourth.
- AU would end up winning the contest 17-2 after a late Raiders goal.
- Goalie Meghan Ginty shutout the Raiders in her 30 minutes of action.
