The Aurora University softball team took on the Cardinals of North Central College on Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader at Bedrosian Stadium. Location: Bedrosian Stadium - Montgomery, Illinois

How it happened
GAME ONE:
- AU starter Rylee Campbell worked her way out of an early first inning jam to keep the Cardinals scoreless going into the bottom of the first.
- That scored remained tied at zero until Alyson Haegele ripped an RBI single back up the middle in the bottom of the fourth that scored Faith Biggs and Kionna King.
- North Central saw another opportunity to score in the top of the fifth with a runner in scoring position and two outs, but Campbell worked her way out of that jam as well.
- The Spartans added another run in the bottom of the sixth when Jordan Seyfried hit a sac-fly that scored Lily Komperda.
- Campbell sat the Cardinals down 1-2-3 in the seventh to complete the five-hit shutout.
- Campbell also needed just one strikeout to lead AU to the 3-0 game one victory.

GAME TWO:
- Similar to game one, the Cardinals saw runners on first and second with two outs in the first, but AU starter Madelyn Buske worked her way around the runners to keep the score tied at zero.
- The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning.
- AU saw a chance to cut into the North Central lead in the bottom of the fourth with no outs and two runners on, but the Spartans were unable to scratch any runs across.
- Buske left another two Cardinal runners on base at the conclusion of the top of the fifth, keeping the AU deficit at 2-0.
- The Spartans saw another chance for runs in the bottom of the sixth after Aubrey Ortiz and Biggs singles, but were unable to get them home.
- The Cardinals added another run in the top of the seventh to extend their lead to 3-0.
- AU did score a run in the bottom of the seventh when Alex Thiel singled home Casey Brennan, but that was all the Spartans would get in the 3-1 game two loss.
