Just one day after being recognized by D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings as members of the 2024 All-Region Teams, Spartans
Nik Panico and
Joe Lukancic were selected as D3baseball.com All-Americans. Panico was a Third-Team member while Lukancic was selected to the Fifth-Team.
Just yesterday, Lukancic earned the top freshman honor in Region 8 by D3baseball.com as Rookie of the Year and also received First-Team All-Region recognition from both D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings while Panico was selected as a First-Team member by D3baseball.com and Second-Team by ABCA/Rawlings.Â

Panico, the 2024 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference member hit .394 with 12 home runs, 13 doubles, 52 runs batted in, 41 runs scored, a 1.190 OPS, a .700 slugging percentage and .490 on-base percentage. He was walked 19 times while being hit by 13 pitches on the season. Panico had 19 multiple-hit and 14 multiple-RBI games this season.
Lukancic, the 2024 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Freshman of the Year and First-Team All-Conference member hit a NACC leading .447 which is seventh in Division III with 84 hits which led Division III in the regular season. He posted 18 doubles, one triple, two home runs, 54 runs scored, 36 runs batted in, while drawing 14 walks en route to a .485 on-base percentage and a .585 slugging percentage. He had multiple hits 25 times, including 15 games with at least three hits. He posted a season-high four hits on eight occasions, including four times in a stretch of five games against Webster, Marian, and Edgewood from April 25-30. He drove in multiple runs on 10 occasions, including a season-high four as part of a 4-for-7 day in a 22-3 rout of Marian on April 27.
The Spartan baseball team finished the 2024 season with a 34-11 overall record and are ranked 17th in the ABCA and 18th in the D3baseball.com Top 25 polls. AU finished second in the Northern Athletics Colleiate Conference regular season and were runner-up in the NACC Tournament, forcing the if-necessary game on the road at tournament host Benedictine.
