The Aurora University Women's cross country team opened the 2024 season with a victory at the NPU/CUC Invite co-hosted by Concordia University Chicago and North Park University. The team scored 30 points. Placing second was North Central (Ill.) (32 points), and in third was Concordia University Chicago (76 points).
Leading the way for the Spartans was N'Dya Fields with a time of 20:05.2 in seventh place.
Emma Jasutis finished second for the team with a time of 20:46.1 in tenth place. Finishing third for the team was
Savannah Vasquez with a time of 20:46.5 in 11th place. AU's fourth runner was freshman
Mia Luna with a time of 20:52.7 in 12th place.The final scorer for the Spartans was freshman
Mallory Arroyo with a time of 21:05.4 in 14th place.
Rounding out the top seven for the Spartans were
Angie Goduto and
Alex Gonzalez in 21:10.7 and 21:11.1 respectively. The top seven Spartans finished ahead of every other team's fifth runner.
The next race for the Spartan Cross Country team comes on Saturday, September 14th as they host the Spartan Classic. The meet is at the Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course in Geneva, Illinois.
