Spartans rally to defeat Lakeland in dual

The Aurora University Spartans men's wrestling team made the long trek to Lakeland University on Friday evening for a CCIW dual with the Muskies. After trailing 16-7 midway through the dual, the Spartans won the final four matches wrestled and scored 17 points in doing so for a 24-16 victory.

How it happened
- The dual with the Muskies started at the 157 weight class with Austin Abitua winning by a 14-8 decision and a 3-0 AU lead.
- AU fell in the 165 and 174 matches and trailed 10-3.
- Spartan Alton Mullinax scored four points at 184 with an 11-2 major decision.
- Following a forfeit at 197, AU trailed 16-7 with four matches to be wrestled.
- Cam'ron Harper began the Spartan comeback winning by major decision at 285, 13-4.
- Tyler Evitts tied up the dual with a tech fall victory (21-2) at 133.
- The Spartans regained the lead when Jake Penzato won at 141 by tech fall (17-2) and AU now led 21-16.
- Ashton Massaro sealed the AU dual win at 149 with a three-point 7-6 decision.
- The Spartans were victorious 24-16.

Next action for the Spartan men's wrestling team comes on Thursday, February 6 when they travel to North Central College in a dual meet. First match is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Naperville, Illinois.
