The Aurora University Men's Track and Field team competed in the Chicagoland Indoor Championship at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
Armando Acosta won the 800-meter in a school record time of 1:56.25. He ran the race largely on his own, separating from the pack early and building on his lead each lap. He ultimately won the race by over two seconds.
Steven Tinsley finished second in both the weight throw and the shot put. He threw a personal best mark of 17.32m in the weight throw, and 15.55m in the shot put.
Jahrel Rimpel entered the school record book in the 200-meter, running 22.99s for an eighth place finish. He is now tenth in school history in the event.
The Distance Medley Relay team of Liam Evans, Mekhii Morris-Heron, Joshua Beechler, and Sam Brown finished in second place in a time of 10:56.62.
Morris-Heron also had a strong showing in the 400-meter, winning his heat in 51.32s and finishing sixth overall.
Up next, the Spartans will compete in the F. Lee Slick Invitational at North Central College in Naperville, IL on Friday, February 21.
